A FLOOD ALERT REMAIN IN FORCE FOR LOW LYING AREAS, SMALL STREAMS AND

AREAS ADJACENT TO WAIMANU AND NAQALI STATIONS AND NOW IN FORCE FOR

LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS ADJACENT TO MAJOR RIVERS FOR VANUA

Situation: An active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and

rain remain slow moving over the Fiji group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

For Land areas of Northern Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group,

Western and Northern Viti Levu, Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby

smaller islands:

Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds. Winds turning northwesterly,

becoming strong with average speed of 40 km/hr and gusting to 60

km/hr later tonight.

Elsewhere, moderate to fresh northerly winds, gusty at times.

Moderate to rough seas.

Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms over Vanua

Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller Islands, Yasawa and Mamanuca group,

eastern half of Viti Levu, Northern Lau group and Lomaiviti group.

Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms for the rest of

Viti Levu. Occasional showers and few thunderstorms over the rest of

Fiji with showers increasing to rain with isolated heavy falls from

later today.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

Outlook for Saturday : For Northern Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca

group, Western and Northern Viti Levu, Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and

nearby smaller islands, strong northwesterly winds of 40 km/hr and

gusting to 60 km/hr. Periods of rain, heavy at times and few squally

thunderstorms over most places.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

Outlook for Saturday : Periods of rain, heavy at times and few

squally thunderstorms.

For Sigatoka / Coral Coast:

Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

Outlook for Saturday: Strong northwesterly winds of 40 km/hr and

gusting to 60 km/hr. Periods of rain, heavy at times and few squally

thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba :

Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Tavua / Rakiraki:

Situation:

An active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain

remain slow moving over the Fiji group.

Forecast to 6am tomorrow for Fiji waters:

For Fiji waters:

Northeasterly winds 20 to 30 knots. Winds turning and becoming

predominantly northwesterly later tonight.

Rough to very rough seas.

Moderate southeast swells.

Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further outlook: Northwesterly winds 20 to 30 knots, gusting to 40

knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.
