PEOPLE living at Bila settlement just outside Lautoka have been without water for the past four days. The residents are also surviving on whatever they can salvage from their plantations for food.

Drinking water is sourced from a nearby settlement, but residents say they can barely afford the costs of transporting this basic need. “There is nothing left, we do not know where to go,” said a distraught Timoci Tabacece.

“We are going through such a hard time as we have been without water and proper food for the past four days, although we have to thank Red Cross and FRIEND Fiji for assisting us a bit.

“We hope that our plea for help will be looked into,” said Mr Tabacece.
