Wardens take Nadi 7s title

THE Wardens Gold rugby team retained the Martintar 7s title at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

The side beat Sigatoka River Safari Senibua 31-14 to walk away $5000 richer.

Warden also won the competition back to back in 2016 and 2017.

In the semi-finals, Wardens beat Ravuka Sharks 27-19, while Bamboo Yamacia lost to Sigatoka River Safari Senibua 10-7.

Tournament chairman Timoci Waqaniburotu said the talents on display were above expectations.

“The competition this year is very tough,” Waqaniburotu said.

“There was a major upset with the Eels Westfield Babaas losing to Raddison Blu in the pool stage.

“That indicates that the smaller teams cannot be ruled out in tournaments as they come prepared.”
