GOAL attack Alesi Waqa-Paul sustained a serious injury which could rule her out of the next match against Barbados on Saturday.

Waqa-Paul sustained a knee injury in the last quarter of the match at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday.

Coach Vicki Wilson said she was being looked at by the medical team.

“It looked like a serious knee injury,” Wilson told the press after the match.

“She went down in the match, but she is being assessed by the physio.”

Waqa-Paul, a police officer, is one of the experienced players in the team and had been part of the Fiji netball team for a number of years.

She made three successful attempts at goal from the five opportunities she was provided in the match.

“She is in the safe hands of the physio,” Wilson added.

“She had a huge impact in our team and it would be sad to lose a player in the first game.”
