DESPITE all the challenges they come across, they have only one thing in mind — to raise funds and awareness for children living with cancer and other life-threatening conditions by walking a distance of 462 kilometres.
The Walk on Walk Strong (WOWS) Kids (Fiji) walk around Viti Levu has been a challenging one for participants as this is something they have never done before.
Walk on Walk Strong (WOWS) Kids (Fiji) communication officer Jeremy Duxbury said the group started off about 5am on Monday and were able to walk a distance of 81 kilometres.
He said he was overwhelmed with the response coming from villages and places they visited during their walk.
“It’s been quite tough. We had problems along the way. It’s tough but everybody seems to be having a great time,” Mr Duxbury said.
He said they were lucky to be given food and water at the different places they walked past.
“When we reached a certain village the people actually come and greet us because they knew we are coming.”
Mr Duxbury said they were grateful with the support they had received from the people.
He said they were expecting more to join them in their two weeks journey around Viti Levu.
The group stopped at Namatakula for the night and would get back on track at 6am today.
