COLD beer, traditional Bavarian food and activities are just some of the features that make the annual Oktoberfest celebration one of the largest festivals in the world. The annual event held in Germany draws about six million people every year.
Here in Fiji, locals had the chance to experience for themselves what the festival was all about, thanks to an initiative by Adam Wade, the general manager of Vuda Marina, and his team.
Mr Wade said the event was internationally famous but people in Fiji rarely knew about it.
“I really wanted to bring the celebration and the fun of Oktoberfest in Germany to Fiji,” he said.
For the past two weeks, Vuda Marina hosted nearly a thousand people to food, beer and fun activities associated with the German event.
“It’s just a time for friends and family to get together at a fantastic location to enjoy some nice food, good music.
“We have a live band, various games and competitions that we have and as well to enjoy a nice, cold frosty beer.”
On Saturday, about 500 gathered at the marina to mark the final day of Oktoberfest celebrations in Vuda.
