SOME veterans of the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s (RNZAF) flying boat operations who were based at Laucala Bay in Suva from 1941 to 1967 were hosted to a reception at the New Zealand High Commissioner’s residence in Suva last week.
This was after the unveiling of a commemorative monument at the University of the South Pacific last Friday.
Also present at the reception was SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka.
Meanwhile, Laucala Bay veterans, a contingent of RNZAF personnel including members of No. 5 Squadron, the RNZAF band, and a Maori culture group travelled to Fiji to attend the commemoration which was also part of USP’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
