AUSTRALIAN-born Fijian Robert Valetini is expected to play a major role for the Melbourne Rising side in this year’s National Rugby Championship.

Valetini featured at blindside flanker for Canberra Vikings last season and scored five tries in seven matches.

The 19-year-old signed a Super Rugby contract with the Brumbies last year but is yet to feature for the Canberra-based team.

He has also represented the Australian U20 side in 2017.

Other Fijians playing in the Melbourne Rising team are Isi Naisarani, Kiti Rau, Sefa Naivalu and Robert’s brother Kemu Valetini.

The Melbourne Rising takes on the Fijian Drua at 3pm at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park this Saturday.
