USP TAFE delivers customised retail training

Listen to this article:

RETAIL giants will benefit from the first ever training developed for competence in retail management which aims to bridge the competency gaps.

The training was developed by the University of the South Pacific’s Pacific Technical and Further Education(Pacific TAFE), Workforce Development Training Unit  for the Vision Group.

The three day training began today which hosted over 20 staff members from the company and was held at the Workforce Development training unit in Walu Bay.

Executive Director for Pacific TAFE Hasmukh Lal said the unit was developed in order to set up customized packages for companies if they see that the qualifications were not meeting their specific competency gap.

“This is the first time an industry has sat down with USP to develop a customize package,” Mr Lal said.

“The case studies are from the Vision group, the theory is of course written by USP but the practical exercises they have been jointly developed by Courts and USP.”

The trainings will also roll out to the Western and Northern Divisions.
