UNITED States of America swim team has been dominating so far in the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championship at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva.

After day one of competition the team scooped seven gold medals.

USA team leader Mitch Dalton said the team was not going to let their guard down too soon as there was room for more improvement.

“It has been a good first day for us, when it comes to the final swims we put the times away and just focus on who can get their hand on the wall first,” said Dalton.

“This is a very long meet as we are barely a quarter of the way through the competition. We are moving on from today and won’t celebrate until the meet is over,” he added.

Dalton said they still had a lot of room for improvement, and needed to identify their mistakes and pick up on it.

“There are a lot of little things we can improve on, to get ready for our races in the coming days. We are still preparing as we need a lot of room for improvement.”

The USA team has been enjoying their stay in the country and is hoping to put in some good swims to return the hospitality provided by the host nation.
