THE Fiji Police Force rugby league team received a timely boost yesterday. The help came from Blue Gas Fiji Ltd in its effort to help the team prepare for the 2020 World Rugby League Cup and participation in local compatitions.

Company chief executive officer Ajay Punja yesterday handed-over a $15,000 sponsorship package to the Police Sharks League team which includes jerseys and training equipment.

The sponsorship package was received by Acting Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu at the FPF headquarters at Laucala Beach, Suva.

“The Fiji Police Force extends its appreciation for the assistance, highlighting the importance of policing Fiji through sports initiative under the Duavata Community Policing umbrella as engaging youths in sports has had a positive impact on policing operations,” he said.

Punja said his company was honoured to support the Fiji Police Force in its rugby league campaign on the local scene and also for the Police Rugby League World Cup competition in 2020.

He said it was important for private organisations to support the work of police, adding that sports had a way of uniting everyone and they were optimistic that their sponsorship would result in officers being recognised for their talents and becoming positive role models for the young generation.
