Tui Wailevu laid to rest

THE Tui Wailevu, Rokodewala Niumataiwalu, was laid to rest at the village sautabu (sacred burial ground) today.
Wailevu Village in Labasa, Macuata, was a sea of black as mourners converged on the village to pay their last respects to the late chief.
The late chief who has maternal ties to the island of Mali also in Macuata, was described as a man of the vanua who took pride in his role as a leader to his people.
The Tui Wailevu died aged 82 and is survived by his wife Adi Losalini Tinainasucu, his five children and four grandchildren.
