THE man who was hospitalised at the Vunisea hospital in Kadavu after the truck he was driving fell into the sea was airlifted to the CWM hospital yesterday.

Fiji Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the driver of the 10-wheeler truck was now admitted at the ICU ward.

“The suspect was driving a 10-wheeler truck and accompanied by two others on Monday afternoon and while trying to reverse on the Vunisea Jetty in Kadavu, he allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to loose gravel causing the truck to plunge into the sea,” Ms Naisoro said.

“All three managed to swim to safety. While the two passengers were treated and sent home, the driver sustained serious injuries and has been admitted in hospital since the day of the accident.”

Investigations are continuing.
