Trans people are part of everyone

Update: 4:07PM TRANSGENDER people in Fiji are part of a family and come from all walks of life.

The Rainbow Pride Foundation Fiji (RPF) said trans people represent various backgrounds in a statement it issued last week to commemorate International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31.

“They could easily fit into any role to help rebuild families and communities whether it be digging drains or rebuilding houses or assisting the women look after the kids and the meal,” the statement said.

Meanwhile Amasai Jeke a trans-activist and lead for transgender programming within the RPF said this was time to celebrate transgender people around the world and their courage to live openly and authentically.

RPF Executive Director, Isikeli Vulavou, said “For us here at Rainbow Pride Foundation, it is a day to celebrate the lives and achievements of transgender people across Fiji and the Pacific and also recognize the work of Trans Organizations.”
