Tough Hong Kong 7s

The Hong Kong Sevens tournament is not just another leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series but it is the Mecca of Sevens tournaments.
All teams will come out firing with the best prepared players and team to represent their country.
We Fijians may have high hopes that our Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team with the inclusion of Katonibau, Kunatani and Viriviri and having won two tournaments in the current series, will just have a stroll in the park to make it four in a row in Hong Kong.
Lest we forget, one of our Fiji 7s teams in the 1980s consisting of the same team that won in Hong Kong the previous year, was bundled out of the Cup competition by Japan.
Sir Gordon Tietjens and his Samoan 7s team will use the element of surprise to rattle our boys in their first Pool A match on Friday, as I believe we have written off Samoa in our minds.
Sir Tietjens knows that our boys are slow starters and if they can rattle the Fijians, they will have a first win on their hands.
The New Zealand 7s coach Roger Randle said he had brought in six Fijians and they had been training well together and were confident of upsetting the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s side in their last Pool A match.
Four Hong Kong wins in a row is possible but this will only happen if our boys enter the field of play with a hungry mind-set, giving it their all and treating every pool game as the final.
Go Fiji go, take it one game at a time.
