TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Sisilia Tinai is focused not only on her debut for the Fiji Airways 15s rugby team but also trying to win a spot in the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2021. The Fiji Corrections Service officer is excited and honoured to represent Fiji during their Australia tour in a buildup towards future international meets.

“I was a squad member for the Fijiana 7s team in 2016, but I wasn’t selected. Now is my chance to impress the 15s and 7s coaching panel and earn a spot in either team,” Tinai said.

The Saivou sprinter from Ra plays as a wing for the Namosi women’s team and her mission in the national squad is to try and score as many tries as she can during the matches.

“This will be my first international flight and I don’t want to make it my last, so every opportunity I get in the field, I will try and make the most of it,” she said.

“I have always dreamt of representing Fiji, and I have always had the support from home and I know they will be supporting me throughout. We have a good strong experienced side and there are only a few of us who will make their debut, so we will do our best in preparation towards the World Cup Qualifier.”

The team will leave today as they prepare for their first match against Brumbies on Monday and face Newcastle on Saturday.
