19 March, 2018, 11:42 am
Update: 11:42AM THE ruling for a constitutional redress application filed by Lautoka lawyer Aman Ravindra Singh is expected to be handed down today by High Court judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.
Mr Singh is representing Josaia Waqabaca who is charged along with others in the Fiji Times sedition case, which they are alleged to have made, or caused to be published, a seditious statement in the Nai Lalakai newspaper.
Bhavna Narayan, the lawyer from the Attorney General’s office who is the respondent in this case, had filed a strikeout application through its lawyer.
Mr Narayan has made submissions that the application be struck out as it discloses no reasonable cause of action, is scandalous, frivolous and is an abuse of the process of the court.
Justice Rajasinghe will deliver his ruling this afternoon at the High Court in Suva.
