LITIA Tikoisuva and Semesa Naiseruvati were crowned winners of the Kontiki Finance Pineapple Cup that was held at the Suva Bowling club yesterday.
Tikoisuva won the women’s final beating Loreta Kotoisuva 21-11, to be crowned 2018 women’s champion after a lapse of five years.
Tikoisuva said it’s been a while since she last held the silverware and was happy of the outcome of her performance.
“It feels great to win after a drought of five years because last year I lost in the final so this year I went back to the basics that carried me through,” Tikoisuva said.
“This is also a build up towards the champion versus champion tournament in Sydney Australia and I’m looking forward to it.”
In the men’s division, Semesa Naiseruvati defended his title from Rajinesh Prasad for two years in a row.
Naiseruvati said despite the win, the competition level had intensified.
“It always feels good to win a title, but it’s always hard to defend one especially against Rajinesh Prasad,” Naiseruvati said.
“I would like to thank God Almighty for giving me the strength to accomplish the win.
Meanwhile, in the women’s category, the winner walked away with $250 and for the men’s category the winner received $300.
