Three in hospital after separate road accidents

TWO children and a man are in hospital after three separate road accidents at the weekend.

According to a statement released by Police today, a 14-year-old student sustained injuries after she was allegedly hit by a taxi.

The incident took place last Friday at Kalabu in Nasinu.

In a separate accident, an 11-year-old student of Tacirua was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man after he allegedly crossed the road from behind a parked bus.

Both students are admitted at the CWM hospital and are in a stable condition.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a 49-year-old man from Vuda was also admitted to the Lautoka hospital after he was allegedly hit by a bus yesterday morning.

Ms Naisoro said the man was allegedly drinking with his friends.

She said the victim wanted to stop a bus at the busstop but he went onto the middle lane and was allegedly hit by a bus.

The victim sustained injuries and he was taken to the Lautoka hospital where he remains admitted.

Police said it was imperative for members of the public to be alert and be aware that as pedestrians, they are responsible for their own safety.
