THREE men are in custody for their alleged involvement in an aggravated robbery case where police officers were attacked and sustained injuries.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident happened early Thursday morning at a grog shop in Nakasi.

She said five men armed with knives and timber forcefully entered the premises and stole cash, cigarettes and a mobile phone belonging to a 57-year- old salesman.

“A team of officers conducting night operations in the Eastern Division arrived at the scene and were confronted by the group who allegedly attacked the police officers by smashing the window of the vehicle before fleeing the scene,” she said.

“An officer sustained injuries as a result of the attack.”

Ms Naisoro said the five men also damaged the police vehicle.
