THE Fiji Table Tennis Association is planning to conduct more development programs around the country.

This is to expand and expose the sport across the border including rural areas and maritime islands.

Table tennis is a minority sport in the country that continues to impress the people of Fiji with its ability to host international tournaments that sees Olympians, Commonwealth Games table tennis players and Oceania athletes competing in Fiji.

International Table Tennis Federation Oceania president Anthony Ho said table tennis in Fiji needed exposure.

“To build capacity in every tournament is something that every sport tries,” Ho said.

“Table tennis is trying to do that and improve the administration of the sport by hiring people for ground-work while the executives deal with the operations, managing and planning of tournaments.

“I’m planning to expand the development of the sport to the province of Serua and it will be good to see new names and athletes from rural areas participating in tournaments.”
