Teams set for semis

TUVA Highlanders and Cuvu Blues continued their unbeaten run in the Nadroga Super Rugby competition to secure a spot in this weekend’s semi finals.

The Esala Nauga-coached Highlanders downed a gutsy Waicoba Crusaders side 19-10 in the Pool A decider while the Blues defeated Noinabua Hurricanes 15-8 to top Pool B.

Rupeni Nasiga’s Sigatoka Bulls survived a tough battle against Conua Chiefs 24-23 to win the second spot in Pool A which also guaranteed the side a ticket in the semi-final.

In Pool B Malomalo Sharks accounted for Wai Stormers 11-3 to join Highlanders, Blues, and Bulls in the semi-final.

The Sharks will face the unbeaten Tuva Highlanders in the first semi-final while the Sakiusa Gavidi-led Blues to face Malomalo Sharks in another interesting semi-final battle.

Meanwhile, Tuva Highlanders, Sigatoka Bulls, Malomalo Sharks and Wai Stormers have also secured their spots in the under-20 competition with Tuva and Malomalo leading Pool A and Pool B respectively.

Tuva defeated Waicoba Crusaders 24-17 in last weekend’s encounter while Sharks escaped a hard fought 5-0 win over Wai Stormers.

Sigatoka Bulls downed Conua Chiefs 24-14 in another match while Cuvu Blues went down to Noinabua Hurricanes 5-0 in last week’s last week’s U20 game.

Nadroga rugby president Tiko Matawalu has called on the fans to come in huge numbers and cheer their respective teams in the semi-finals.
