Team Fiji names six women Olympians for Commonwealth Games

Update: 6:42PM SIX Olympians have been named in Team Fiji’s women’s rugby team to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia next month.

Fijiana skipper to the 2016 Rio Games Ana Roqica, and her team mates Rusila Nagasau, Litia Naiqato, Timaima Ravisa, Viniana Raiwai and Lavenia Tinai had their names released by Team Fiji via a statement this evening.

With them are Vasiti Solikoviti, Miriama Naiobasali, Pricilla Siata, Lavena Cavuru, Ana Naimasi, Mereula Torooti, and Elenoa Naimata as the 13th member of the team.

The men’s team was named earlier this afternoon: Mesulame Kunavula, Kalione Nasoko, Josua Vakurinabili, Jasa Veremalua, Semi Tani Kunabuli, Paula Dranisinukula, Seremaia Tuwai, Vatemo Ravouvou, Amenoni Nasilasila, Eroni Sau, Alasio Naduva, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and the 13th member being Samisoni Nasagavesi.

Jasa, Semi and Tuwai represented Fiji won gold in the Rio Games in 2016.

Team Fiji Chef De Mission Patrick Bower said they had several of the athletes chosen that represented Fiji at the 2016 Olympic Games.

?We congratulate and wish each athlete chosen the best at the 2018 Commonwealth Games,? Bower said.

Fiji national 7s coach Gareth Baber has indicated that while he has named the team, there are likely to be changes but only subject to any injuries sustained during the training preparations for the Commonwealth Games.
