TD13F: Power outage in the Northern Division

Update: 12:22PM THE Fiji Electricity Authority network in the North has been affected by flood waters causing power disruptions.

This is due to the heavy downpour currently experienced in the Northern Division.

A statement issued today by the
authority’s chief executive officer Karunesh Rao said power has been restored
to all areas that were accessible.

“Some five per cent of our customers in Labasa
are still without power supply,” said Mr Rao.

“Our teams have been working
cautiously and safely to repair and restore power supply to the affected areas,” he said.

“FEA requests members of the public that
in the event you notice a broken or low sagging power lines.

“Please
immediately call our emergency number 913 and report the hazard.

“For flood
prone areas, we request the residents to also call FEA on 913 on rising
water levels that compromises power line clearance.”

Meanwhile members of the public are being urged to stay away from power lines.
