TC Keni: Nasau villagers on Koro wastes no time

Update: 4:41PM VILLAGERS of Nasau on Koro Island in the Lomaiviti group have not wasted any time as they had already activated their preparations after the group was issued with a tropical cyclone alert today.

Speaking from Nasau Village today, Eminoni Raqiyawa said although there had not been any official warning from the relevant authorities on the island to the villagers, the people of Nasau had not wasted any time and started moving to evacuation centres.

Mr Raqiyawa said the church had been the evacuation centre for most who have been living in tents since their houses were damaged by Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016.

Speaking in the iTaukei language, he said at the moment, they were experiencing light showers.

Nasau was one of the severely-ravaged villages on the island of Koro during category 5 TC Winston.
