TC Josie: West water supply disruption
1 April, 2018, 6:56 pm
Update: 6:56PM EXPECT water supply to lessen and cease altogether if you live in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba and certain parts of Lautoka areas.
The Fiji Water Authority said low supply at its western reservoirs and treatment plants means low water pressure to no water from this afternoon until further notice.
“This is caused by flood waters damaging pipelines and pump stations and also unplanned power disruptions caused by FEA maintenance work,” a WAF statement this afternoon said.
“Due to the continuous heavy rain since last night, WAF engineers have not been able to access these areas due to flooding.”
Works will be carried out once flood waters subside and as weather conditions improve.
“Therefore, the authority is kindly advising its customers residing in the Western Division to store and use water wisely for their immediate needs during this disruption period,” the WAF said.
“Water carting trucks will be on standby to service the affected areas as and when the need arises.”
“The authority also wishes to advise its customers to boil all drinking water.”
