TC Josie: Stations record alarming water levels

Update: 11:40AM WATER levels at seven major flood prone areas have passed warning levels and another three stations have recorded alert levels as TC Josie continues to bring in more rain.

In its 10am bulletin, the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) in Nadi issued specific flood warnings for communities near or adjacent to the following;

  • Tuva River
  • Nawaka River
  • Nadi River
  • Ba River
  • Rakiraki Town
  • Tavua River
  • Navua River
  • Sigatoka River
In its weather bulleting number 32 about the Category1 cyclone, the RSMC said water levels at the following stations had increased past warning levels:
  1. Emuri Station was 10.15metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 5.65metres
  2. Vatutu Station was 4.4metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 2.8metres
  3. Tuva Station was 5.31metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 2.8metres
  4. Ba FSC Station was 6.83metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 3.3 metres
  5. Nasivi Station was 4.35metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 0.85metres
  6. Votualevu Station was 6.5metres at 9.00AM, an excess of .5metres
  7. Nabukelevu Station was 7.74metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 3.34metres
Meanwhile the water levels at the following stations were now well above alert levels;
  • Keiyasi Station was 4.53metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 0.3metres
  • Vatukacevaceva Station was 1.27metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 0.27metres
  • Toge Station was 5.9metres at 9.00AM, an excess of 0.1metres
