THE former boxing coach and heavy weight boxing champion Napoleon Taumoepeau’s death that occurred over the weekend has been classified by the Fijian Police as a suicide.

Police revealed this citing the post mortem examination result of the 41-year-old boxer.

Taumoepeau was found dead at his boxing gym gym at Brown St in Suva at the weekend.

Amatuer boxing coach Pauliasi Ratu had earlier said that Taumouepeau’s passing was a big loss for Fiji boxing.

Ratu and Taumoepeau had been part of the coaching panel for the national amateur boxing team.

Ratu had coached the boxers in the Pacific Mini Games in Vanautu last year while Taumoepeau coached Winston Hill and Jone Davule in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Taumoepeau had retired from boxing in November last year due to the medical reasons.
