Tailevu chiefs request 3-day meet

MORE than 20 chiefs from Tailevu will soon meet to discuss pressing issues affecting the province. This was revealed at the final day of the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting at Nauluvatu Village in Nakelo, Tailevu yesterday.

Several requests were put forward to meet chairperson Rusiate Tudravu, including a call to have the meeting over three days, where one day be set aside for chiefs to meet.

Roko tui Tailevu, Iliesa Delana responded to the request, saying he had met the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, on day one of the meeting and the PM had directed his office to organise the logistics of the meeting. He said the logistics included the budget for the meeting, the venue and all other finer details.

Bau chief Ratu Epenisa Cakobau said the meeting should be apolitical and should not involve any politician. The meeting date is yet to be confirmed.
