LIEUTENANT Colonel Manasa Tagicakibau has been sworn-in as the new head of the Fijian diplomatic mission to the People’s Republic of China.

Lt-Col Tagicakibau was sworn-in by Fijian President Jioji Konrote at the Borron House in Suva today.

He will replace Ioane Naivalurua who now holds the position of the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lt-Col Tagicakibau served as the Commissioner Western and the Director of Disaster Management Committee (DISMAC) before his new appointment.

He has accomplished a lot during his tenure as Commissioner Western and has been recognised for the work he had done during natural disasters and development.

In April 2015, he headed the Fiji Response Team of 30 RFMF engineers to Vanuatu for rehabilitation work post-Tropical Cyclone Pam.

Lt-Col Tagicakibau held the appointment of Commanding Officer, Logistics Support Unit prior to being seconded to the Ministry of Provincial Development and National Disaster Management as Director National Disaster Management Office in 2012.
