Suva thrashes Navosa, claims bonus point

SUVA secured a bonus point win over Navosa after hammering them 60-15 in the fourth round of the Skipper Cup competition at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva yesterday.The Capital City side scoredvseven tries in the first half through wingers Jonathan Petueli and Levani Kurimudu flanker Elia Canakaivata, outside centre Watisoni Sevutia, prop Seveci
Naisilisili, number eight Jitoko Usumaki and scrum half Peni Matawalu.

Navosa registered an early try in the match through Turaga Ilimeliki. The Jope Tuikabe-coached side was ruthless in their attack as they extended their lead in the second half to get a comfortable win in the competition.

Petueli and Kurimudu scored a try each in the second spell with substitute prop Eneri Lotawa while Navosa scored a consolation try through hooker Murivalu Temesi.

“It was a good win for Suva and we achieved our objective which was to get five points from the match as the fourth round of competition is very tight and strong,” Tuikabe said.

“I thank the boys for doing the job for Suva.

“It was bit rusty in both halves, there were a lot of loose carries and we need to tidy up those areas.

“We will prepare well for the next match against Naitasiri.”

Navosa backline coach and former Fiji rep Ilaitia Nabewa said Suva was a better team on the day.

“Suva is a very good team in the competition,” he said. “We will learn from our mistakes and try to improve in the next match against Malolo next weekend.”
