LANGUAGE plays a very important role in a person’s personality.

This was the comment made by The Fiji Times editor-in-chief Fred Wesley today in his official address at the launch of the Suva Sangam College Language Week.

“Language helps us to communicate, it helps us to argue, to learn and to negotiate,” Wesley said.

“Language plays a very important role in a person’s personality and of course, we use language to inform the people around us of what we feel, what we desire, what we question and how we understand the world around us.”

He encouraged the students to learn other foreign languages because it would be helpful to them in the business world.

The theme for the language week is ‘Language diversity, our future’.

The language week ends on Thursday and will culminate with entertainment and numerous activities.
