IN an effort to help students cope with conditions related to the existing dry period, 56 students from five schools in the Northern Division yesterday learnt to control the spread of water-borne diseases in Labasa.
Co-ordinated by Save the Children Fiji (SCF), the training workshop aimed to assist children cope with the dry climate and enable them in taking measures to prevent the spread of diseases.
SCF communications consultant, Lisa Kingsberry said the workshop was also a platform for gathering children’s views and concerns about the dry weather.
“This will give us an idea of what children want before presenting these concerns to policy makers for their necessary actions,” Ms Kingsberry said.
“The workshop is part of the Race for Survival campaign which is a global event.”
