Suwal preaches Table Tennis

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

THE town of Ba was the starting point for the Developing of a National Sports Structure Olympic Solidarity course in October in Fiji.

The valuable program organised under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee and the Development Program of the International Table Tennis Federation.

The course concludes on December 14. With the first course completed in Ba, Surendra Suwal, the expert on duty moved to Lautoka.

"The course took place at the Kshatriya Hall, I was impressed by the regularity, discipline and the punctuality of the students and especially one of the teachers from St. Thomas Primary School, he said.

After 20 days in Lautoka, Suwal moved to Nadi.

The course conducted at the Nadi Airport Sports Association Sports Centre and will finish Friday.

By the time Suwal has finished his travels in December he will have visited Lami, Navua, Nasinu, Nausori, Pacific Harbour and the capital Suva.

A major part of the program has been visiting schools. "The visits were programmed to make the pupils aware of table tennis and to increase the popularity of the sport", Suwal said.

"Altogether 13 schools have been visited, basically primary schools in order to catch them young!" Undoubtedly that is the age when children learn quickly.
