Japan to donate $400k to support Fiji projects

Update: 2:32PM MORE than $400,000 is to be donated by the Japanese government in its assistance to support projects here in Fiji through Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program.

Charge d'Affaires interim of the Embassy of Japan to Fiji Tsuguyoshi Hada will sign three grant contracts of the project for water supply to Naga Village and Tubenasolo Village, the project for upgrading of Lavena Primary School and the project for provision of a school bus to Suva Special School with the respective recipient representatives to formalise Japan's assistance tomorrow.

The GGP Program is part of the overall Japanese ODA implemented by the Embassy of Japan in order to empower the people from the grassroots level.

In Fiji, the program has been widely implemented in areas such as education, water supply, health, transportation, IT, agriculture and fisheries since 1990.

To date, 360 projects have been implemented under the GGP Program which amounts to an approximate value exceeding USD$24million.
