THE Fiji Pearls will play the New Zealand Silver Ferns in the buildup to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia next month.

The Vicki Wilson-coached side will play New Zealand, Jamaica and Malawi in the Taini Jamison Series which will be held in New Zealand later this month.

"We will be playing against some tough oppositions as we will play three Test matches plus another match," Wilson said.

"The team will play four matches which would give us the match fitness that we need before heading to the Commonwealth Games."

Wilson said the team had a busy schedule for this year.

"There will be 12 players named and we have to keep in mind that we have three distinct competitions ahead of us where we will have Taini Jamison Series, six Test matches in the Commonwealth Games and we have Oceania Qualifying Championship for the World Cup 2019," she said.

"We will have a very big month ahead of us so need to see that we pick the player and able to sustain them for the qualifiers."

The Commonwealth Games will be held from April 4-15.
