Friends love Fiji

FOR friends Jonathan Hawkins and Sarah Hayes, leaving the cold climate of New York and visiting "sunny" Fiji was a welcome escape.

The two were among the hundreds of visitors who visited Lautoka when cruise liner Crystal Symphony docked at the Sugar City yesterday.

Ms Hayes said this was their second visit to Fiji.

"We first came to Fiji on board the Crystal Symphony's sister vessel, the Crystal Serenity," she said.

"We love it here, it's beautiful, especially the islands, the water, the people and the friendly atmosphere. We're from New York and it is snowing there and here, it's sunny and a tropical atmosphere."

Ms Hayes said they were travelling with friends on a sea journey that would take them to numerous countries across the globe.

"We are on a world cruise and we started in Africa and made it to Australia and New Zealand afterwards and arrived here today (yesterday) and we love it here.

"We're looking forward to going to the beach and having some fun in Fiji."

She said their trip was expected to end in April.

The cruise liner departed Lautoka yesterday afternoon.
