Update: 1:55PM A VIRTUAL reality exhibition which made the Fiji Pavilion at COP23 popular will show at the Australian Museum in Sydney from today.

Shown as part of the Oceania Connections installation at the museum, the 'Our Home Our People' exhibition will take place 5pm-9pm tonight and aimed at sharing the stories and practices of Pacific peoples.

According to exhibition curator Thelma Trey, part of the objective of the exhibition is also to provide spaces for dialogue.

"The Australian Museum is custodian to over 60,000 Pacific artefacts, some of which will be showcased in the permanent exhibitions, Pacific Spirit and the Westpac 200 Treasures gallery," Ms Trey said.

"These galleries feature some of Fiji's most valued items including kamunaga and wasekaseka, both made of whale teeth."

'Our Home Our People' was funded by the World Bank and was a prominent part of the Fijian Government's COP23 exhibition, showcasing stories from Nabukadr and Namarai in Ra, and as well as Vunisavisavi in Cakaudrove on Vanua Levu.

The event to feature creative workshops, science talks, gallery tours and meke is part of the museum's work to strengthen Sydney's cultural offerings.

"We expect to attract hundreds of Sydney-siders who are interested in experiencing the Australian Museum's culture up late event," Ms Trey said.

"This is also a great opportunity for the Sydney Pacific and Fijian diaspora and creatives to connect and learn more about Pacific culture and technology, whilst also contributing to the city's vibrant diversity and creativity."
