6.7 magnitude earthquake recorded in PNG

Update: 1:35PM THE Papua New Guinea region recorded a 6.7 magnitude earthquake at 2.13am today.

The earthquake occurred at a 10km depth.

It was registered 301km Southwest from Wewak, PNG; 697km Northwest from Port Moresby, PNG; 3205km Northwest from Noumea, New Caledonia; and 4181km Northwest from Suva, Fiji.

The Mineral Resources department in Suva said the strong seismic activity with shallow depth did not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region.
