ISAIA Vuki, rated in New Zealand as a rising rugby star, has passed away in Nadi at the age of 24.

The New Zealand Herald reported that Vuki left his mark on several rugby clubs in the Land of the Long White Clouds before his sudden death in Fiji after being struck down by an illness over the weekend.

"Vuki, who was given the nickname Izzy or Isa by friends, became a force to be reckoned with as he rose through the rugby ranks as a student at West Auckland's Kelston Boys' High before playing in the North Harbour under-20s representative team as well as its senior 7s squad," the report read.

He also played at the Northland Fijian 7s tournament held in Whangarei in 2013 and later went on to represent the Marist Club in Whakatane.

He was introduce to top level rugby in 2016 for the Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union by coach Mutu Ngarimu.
