New challenge for local players

FIJI Warriors coach Senirusi Seruvakula believes the opportunity to feature at the 2018 World Rugby Pacific Rugby Challenge will be a positive one for local players.

He said the upcoming Skipper Cup competition, the Fiji Airways Drua team for the Australian National Rugby Championship were something the players could look forward to.

As per the requirement by World Rugby the competition had been transformed into an under-23 level competition with the exception of five senior players.

"Some of them (the players) played in the U20s category three years ago. When this opportunity opened up for them to play in the U23, we managed to capture them as their names were still in the database," he said.

"It gives them another opportunity with the Warriors —— opening doors for them. Some of them will go back and play in major unions, some of them will get contracts and what it has done for me is, it is going make it very hard for players to make the Drua team with the Skipper Cup players and these U23 PRC players."

The PRC starts this Friday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
