FIJI Airways Flying Fijians prop Kalivati Tawake made his Super Rugby debut last weekend with the New South Wales Waratahs in South Africa.

Tawake came off the bench in the 52nd minute of the second half to help the side draw 24-24 against the Sharks.

The Fijian prop made the 23-member squad for the Waratahs touring team.

Waratahs scouted Tawake during the Australian National Rugby Championship (NRC) and is on a short-term contract with the Sydney-based franchise.

Fiji Airways Drua coach Senrusi Seruvakula said he was proud of the achievement by Tawake and said the prop deserved it.

"Kali Tawake, making it to the Waratahs is something I'm proud of," Seruvakula said.

"One of the players I coached has move to the next level. That is what we want as coaches, for players to play at national level, international and Super Rugby level and for him to make it to the Waratahs —— that is something we should be proud of and be thankful for.

"He deserved it, he has been with the Warriors and Drua, showed consistency and that's why the Waratahs was interested," Seruvakula said.

The Waratahs will face Jaguares in their next Super Rugby match this Sunday.
