DEFENDING champion Simla Dragons made a bright start in the Phil's Autoport-sponsored North West Billiards and Snooker Association (NWBSA) league at the Lautoka Club on Sunday.

The Dragons were on fire thrashing Nadi Club 7-0.

The Dragons had players such as Tony Cen, Philip Gock, Vikrant Sharma, Epeli Bua, Raymond Reddy, Simon Reddy and Kenton Cen.

South Seas Club, with upcoming players Humayun Khan and Javed Khan, downed Tavua Club 6-1.

Ba Central Club captained by Ravi Narayan beat Olosara Club 4-3.

NWBSA president Suresh Chauhan said host Lautoka Club was on a bye in the first round.

Chauhan said Olosara Club put up a strong challenge against Ba Central.

He said the league competition would now be played on a home and away basis.

"The competition will continue on alternate weekends," Chauhan said.

"Simla and South Seas Club have proven to be early favourites for the league title after recording win with big margin."

The draws for the second round will be released later this week.
