Update: 2:20PM STAFF of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG)'s are attending a performance audit training in Suva today.

South African High Commission Charge d'Affaires Velelo Gardener Kwepile said the training was a program of capacity building, which meant empowerment of the Auditor-General's office and the sharing of knowledge.

He said Government institutions and its processes would benefit from the improvement in the OAG's level of audit.

"This is because they belong to one umbrella. Now, these regional institutions have to cooperate, share their knowledge and train the trainers where it's necessary," Mr Kwepile said.

The training is being facilitated by George Haule, the assistant auditor-general of Tanzania, and Grace Nelwamondo, the chief performance auditor of Namibia, who are AFROSAI-E facilitators for the Performance Audit training in Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) in Fiji.

The OAG in collaboration with the AFROSAI-E (African Association of English Speaking Supreme Audit Institution), organised the performance audit workshop with two primary objectives - to provide performance audit training based on AFROSAI-E Performance Audit Manual and also prepare OAG Fiji to adopt it.
