A RESPECTABLE turnout was recorded at Albert Park last Saturday during the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) first Mom N Pop League program in the Southern Division.

Despite having a busy Saturday schedule, parents took their time out and brought their children to enjoy the two-hour program.

Ajeshni Chauhan, who brought her seven-year-old son to participate, commended Fiji FA for the great initiative. "I think it is a very great initiative especially for our children where they are learning the basics of playing soccer, which we, parents are unable to teach our children," Chauhan said.

"When we see the age group (under 10) that has been called for these learning techniques, once they learn the basic level at a young age, it will really boost their morale which will surely help them further in their development," she said.

Another parent, Akash Anand, echoed similar sentiments.

"I think it is great that kids are given this opportunity not only to develop football skills, but to socialise with other kids of their own age group. "If this continues, I think there will be more skillful and professionalism coming in Fiji football as a whole," an optimistic Anand said. Mom N Pop League is a 10-week program basically for kids under the age of 10 to come along with their parents and enjoy football program organised by Fiji FA, an initiative of the technical department with the help of Just Play program volunteers.

It offers everyone a chance to play football, without discrimination and without the need for major infrastructure.
