FIJI's top amateur boxers Winston Hill and Jone Davule have a busy scheduled ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia next month.

Hill and Davule will compete in Papua New Guinea this weekend before going to Brisbane, Australia for a camp in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games.

Coach Pauliasi Ratu said the competition at the Commonwealth Games would be tough.

"We are taking the boxers through intensive training for the Commonwealth Games which is nothing less than the Olympic Games," Ratu said.

"Hill and Davule are training hard and we expect them to give their best.

"We are working on their fitness, skills and footwork so that they are thoroughly prepared for the challenges they would face in the games."

Former heavyweight professional boxer Napoleon Taumoepeau also joined the camp to train the boxers.

"We will fight the PNG boxers and from there we will go to Brisbane for a camp to prepare for the Commonwealth Games," he said.

"We will spend about two weeks in Brisbane and then come back to join Team Fiji for the games."

The boxers depart for PNG on Thursday.
