Pillay: Plan properly

Solomone Rabulu
Tuesday, March 06, 2018

YAQONA farmers in Kadavu have been reminded to properly plan the sale of their yaqona and its planting materials.

This comes after the issue of a lack of yaqona planting materials on the island was brought to the Assistant Minister for Agriculture Viam Pillay's attention by farmers of Natumua Village during his visit to the village's yaqona nursery on the island last month.

Mr Pillay said farmers should plan properly after harvesting their yaqona farms to maintain planting materials rather than selling it off completely because the price of yaqona was very good right now

"Farmers are selling everything from the kasa (planting material) to the cuttings hence the reason that they are left with no planting material," Mr Pillay said.
