LAUTOKA Bowling Club representative Zainal Mohammed will make his international debut when he represents the Fiji Invitational team at the Tiger Bowls World Invitation which will be played in Hong Kong and China from March 11-17.

Mohammed, an employee of the Fiji Sugar Corporation, took up the sport recently and is classed as a rising star.

The Fiji Invitational team is sponsored by Geotech Drilling and Cafe 389 as Fiji steps up training for the Commonwealth Games. .

Team captain Abdul Kalim said Mohammed was a last minute replacement for Kaushal Pillay.

"Zainal was part of the national training squad for the Commonwealth Games," Kalim said.

"However he narrowly missed out on selection. This Tiger Bowls will be a learning experience for him."

The team will also include former world number three Ratish Lal.

Kali and Lal were part of the historic side that won the Tiger Bowls Championship in Hong Kong and China in 2010.

This is the first time that the team recorded a double victory in the world.

Kalim thanked the sponsors Geotech Drilling and Cafe 389.

"The sponsors have made this tour easy because our players did not have to raise money for the trip and just concentrated on their preparation," he said.
