SODELPA issues

I believe Sitiveni Rabuka has every right as the leader of SODELPA to question whether Ro Dona Takalaiyale is a bonafide financial member or not and he is also correct in highlighting that Ro Teimumu has never applied for a party ticket to be considered a candidate for the 2014 national election, but their party Constitution seems to differentiate or discriminate other party members from their two paramount chiefs in that both Ratu Naiqama and Ro Teimumu have special preferences. They can wait to apply for a ticket even after the closing date of the expression of interest to submit theirs.

Traditionally, the SODELPA vice-president Ro Dona is the vanua o Rewa spokesperson (matanivanua) for the Roko Tui Dreketi, but I believe he automatically cannot translate that role or assume the party spokesperson position as and when he feels like as he is not authorised or in any political party it is always the norm that either the party president or the general secretary are the authorised official mouthpiece.

Let's observe the fair distribution of the iTaukei lease monies through TLTB and it does not discriminate, but I believe in our country's politics that every iTaukei should all be the same and that applies for the chiefs too. I believe they can return to the vanua if one feels the heat is too strong in politics because they will not be accorded the respect you deserve and they do not have to look too far from their opposition bench on the government side.

I believe there is no paramount chief on their side but they are doing a marvellous job in serving the Fijian public according to their oath.

I believe our traditional high chiefs do rightly belong in their individual vanua and province where they are held with high esteem and are more productive in terms of collaborating with the government of the day to positively assist and identify the necessary developments required for their vanua.
