Oceania fono emphasises love and care for creation

Update: 3:17PM THE Oceania Fono (talanoa session) ended this morning with hundreds of members of the Anglican Church gathering at the Holy Trinity to be part of the service.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby encouraged the church members to care about the environment as much as they care for one another as most Pacific Island nations were under threat by climate change.

"If we are faithful disciplines of Jesus Christ and if we care about the poor, and we care about creation and we love one another, then caring for the creations mean climate change is high on our agenda," Archbishop Welby said.

"Caring for the poor means climate change is high on our agenda as well as caring for one another means climate change is high on our agenda."

The Oceania Fono is the annual gathering of the church's archbishops from its churches around the Pacific.
